Abandoned No More Initiative

The Abandoned No More Initiative is a community outreach campaign developed by Living Witness Ministries in partnership with the city of Milwaukee and independent philanthropists who see the obvious needs that we are looking to address in order to uplift and improve the quality of life in the communities that we serve through community activism and the implementation of programs designed to meet the natural, spiritual, and economic needs of the depressed and disenfranchised.  Our mission is to keep our natural and spiritual eye on the condition of our assigned cities of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chicago, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia.  The Abandoned No More Initiative looks to impact our community by implementing services including:

Feed My Sheep Community Food Pantry

The Feed My Sheep Community Food Pantry goes the extra mile by offering patrons hot meals that patrons can eat in-house or take to go.  Patrons may also get uncooked items that are refrigerated, fresh, or boxed.  The pantry will serve as the community during lunch and dinner hours seven days a week. Patrons may pick up breakfast meats and perishable items during the pantry’s operating hours.

                                                       ANM Neighborhood Watch Program

The ANM Neighborhood Watch Program is a service that puts boots on the ground in the community during the critical hours of 9:00 PM. To 6:00 AM. Seven days a week. Members of the Neighborhood Watch program are individuals trained in hand-to-hand combat, arms handling, negotiation skills, and will have direct connection to law enforcement and EMT services.  The program will be headquartered in the ANM Community Center and will work in conjunction with other neighborhood watch groups to create a nightly network of neighborhood safety in the Hampton Heights Community, with the goal of establishing the ANM Crime Prevention Partnership with the Milwaukee Common Council through our Alderman Khalif Rainey.

Provision Community Center and Beds Program

By day, the Provision Community Center provides basic medical clinic services, community resources, recreational programs, and a clothing thrift shop all designed to improve the quality of life of the members of the community.  By night, the Community Center becomes an overnight shelter for the homeless providing beds for up to 20 people from 9:00pm to 7:00am 7 days a week.

ANM Economic Empowerment and Wealth Center

The ANM Economic Empowerment and Wealth Center is a consortium designed to teach the members of the Hampton Heights community how to effectively save, invest, bank, buy and sell property, responsibly use credit, properly repair credit, generate additional streams of income, and begin to actively build wealth that they can comfortably live off of now and use to establish an inheritance of wealth that they can leave for their children and future generations. The classes offered will be taught by executives from local banks and entrepreneurs including mortgage brokers, securities investors, insurance brokers, and small business owners.

                                              ANM Community Beautification Campaign

The ANM Community Beautification Campaign is a project of the Kingsmen Men’s Fellowship of Living Witness Ministries in conjunction with local businesses and organizations in the Hampton Heights community.  This collaboration is designed to beautify our community by picking up trash in our community, aiding those that need assistance in lawn maintenance/snow removal around their residence, leading the way in keeping abandoned properties and empty lots clean and properly manicured, and communicating with city hall about street and sidewalk repairs needed in the community until these repairs have been made.

Nadine Kirkendoll (NK) Community Health Clinic

The NK Community Health Clinic is a full-service clinic that offers general health and maintenance services (physicals, blood pressure checks, vaccine injections, etc.) to the uninsured in the Hampton Heights community.  In addition, the clinic will partner with one of the major health care providers in the city as a referral source for patients in need of more acute care.  The clinic will work with nursing schools in the Milwaukee area by offering nursing students the opportunity to work in the clinic on a volunteer basis.

Lark & Lee Community Support Program

The Lark & Lee Community Support Program is an intensive case management service that provides effective and meaningful treatment, rehabilitative, recovery, and support services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness, as well as complex and co-occurring conditions.  The Lark & Lee Community Support Program also provides transitional housing for young adults transitioning out of group homes and juvenile care facilities.  These residents will be counseled by Psychology and Social Work students from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and trained by instructors from Milwaukee Area technical College.

                                                  Living Witness Christian Academy

The Living Witness Christian Academy is a K-12 education institution designed to offer students a balanced curriculum that naturally and spiritually prepares the next generation for success.

OUR PASTOR

Pastor Derrick Thomas has been preaching the Gospel since 1994 and had a love for Christ since age 4.  Pastor Thomas grew up a member of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, yet his calling transcended the denomination and led him to establish a ministry that meets the needs of all cultures, classes, and genders.  Pastor Thomas' ministry philosophy is summarized as, "Meeting people where they are, speaking to them in language they can understand, and being a living witness that changes their lives."
