Haiti Update

We are happy to report that the company we purchase our food from is now servicing the island again (at least for the time being). This is big news for our village because it means we can begin feeding the children once the school reopens. It is a wonderful feeling to know that at such a difficult time, families will have the comfort of knowing their children will be receiving at least one meal a day. We are currently looking to reopen the school next week, but it is imperative that we repair our water source before the children arrive. Pierre informed us that this will require $1800.00 worth of supplies, so we are feverishly working to get him the necessary money. We know that reopening the school will help restore some since of normalcy to the community and will allow our teachers to return to work, which are both vital to the recovery effort. To our knowledge, no international aid has reached the island and we don't expect that any will, so most families are still hungry and simply not able to afford the soaring price of food. As you can imagine, feeding approximately 7,000 people can be quite costly, so we are seeking God's guidance as to how we can consistently address this need. Despite the uncertainty of their future, Pierre continues to report that spirits are high in the village and Sunday church services have nearly doubled in size as people look to God for their comfort and their strength.
