| Haiti Update |
Well, time has been moving so fast that it's hard to believe it has been a month since our last post. We have several things we would like to update you on, and we ask for your continued prayers as we press forward in the work the Lord has called us to. First, we are happy to report that the boat which we were using to transport much needed food, clothing and medical supplies to Haiti, did arrive in Port Au Prince after encountering numerous delays including mechanical problems and customs issues. Unfortunately the crew was not able to deliver the supplies to the island of La Gonave as had originally been planned, so the items were left in a warehouse in Port Au Prince. We are currently seeking a way to transport the items from Port Au Prince to the island. The boxes that were left in Miami are now in the possession of an organization by the name of Touch Haiti Now. This organization is currently collecting items which will be shipped to Haiti via container once the container has been filled.
Our three church congregations on La Gonave have begun fasting and praying in anticipation of our upcoming mission trip. Pastor Alfonso Kirk and another Living Witness Ministries member, Christopher Coleman, will be traveling to Haiti on June 4th - June 11th. The trip serves a dual purpose. One is to take Myriam home now that the school year has come to a close. We are also looking to assess the needs of the people and the community as we seek to assemble a larger team for a trip tentatively scheduled for the fall time frame. Please join us in praying for the success of this trip, as we continue to face many financial and logistical obstacles.
We are excited to report that both church and school attendance in Boucan La Marre, continue to be high as the people are actively seeking God through these difficult times. Currently, our most desperate need continues to be resources to purchase food for our school children. With nearly 500 children in attendance daily, this is no small task, but thanks to God's faithfulness as well as your contributions we have been able to meet this challenge month by month. We trust God will continue to provide as the school year extends into the summer months to make up for the time lost following the earthquake. Please continue to pray for this ongoing need. But most importantly, please pray that God will use this upcoming trip to strengthen, encourage and build up His children both in Haiti and right here in the U.S. We can't wait to share with you, a glorious report of how God answered your prayers during this spirit-led trip. Many thanks, and God Bless!!!
